Please, Tim. Nothing ever changes at KZYX.
Nothing.
Coate and Aigner have seen to blocking tactics time after time, despite your "genuine desire to see positive change at KZYX," as you say.
Change is blocked every damn time, Doug.
• Doug McKenty gets indefinitely suspended on a trumped-up charge. Nothing changes.
• "Open Lines", the station's only forum for unrestricted free speech, is cancelled until further notice -- a serious First Amendment violation. Nothing changes.
• Two part-time news reporters are hired without posting or advertising the jobs -- a serious EEO violation. Nothing changes.
• Coate continues to draw-down on the station's line of credit at the Savings Bank of Mendocino without disclosing those borrowings to the Board, giving him total control over station finances and further undermining the Board's fiduciary responsibilities. Nothing changes.
• A Program Advisory Committee fails to materialize to oversee Aigner's total control over programming decisions. Nothing changes.
• Coate unilaterally promotes himself by adding the title of Executive Director to his title of General Manager, giving him total control over station operations and further undermining the Board's oversight responsibilities. Nothing changes.
• Coate gives himself a ten per cent raise, and further gives the rest of staff raises sufficient to have them reclassified as exempt employees, while, at the same time, eliminating the news department in the name of austerity. Nothing changes.
• Plans for a Ukiah studio are frustrated by having $6,000 that was collected by volunteers, for the purpose of a Ukiah studio, mysteriously disappear. Nothing changes.
• The possibility of helping Mendocino College start a campus radio station is summarily dismissed by Coate and Aigner. Nothing changes.
• The possibility of any collaboration with KMEC is similarly dismissed out-of-hand. Nothing changes.
• A recruitment and training program for both off-air and on-air volunteers for the Latino and Native American Pomo communities is never even considered by Aigner and Coate -- a violation of the FCC's mandates for non-commercial stations for diversity and localism. Nothing changes.
• Christina Aanestad, an outstanding reporter and presumed successor to Annie Espositio, is dismissed without cause, and even without explanation . Nothing changes.
• King Collins's attempt to communicate in a mailing at his expense to the station's 2,300 members is thwarted . Nothing changes.
• Important By-Laws of the station are ignored, including the requirements for Board committees, a Community Advisory Board (only recently started), and a Program Advisory Committee. Nothing changes
And didn't even get to how Aigner purges notable and popular programmers who stand up to her, i.e., Dr. Richard Miller, K.C. Meadows, Els Cooperrider, and Beth Bosk.
Or how Aigner has taken it upon herself to voice her anti-marijuana views at every turn, and to disparage the grower community, thereby influencing how the public perceives the station on medical marijuana. To that point, William Courtney, MD, a national expert on juicing raw cannibals, was unwelcomed at KZYX and had to take his show to KMUD.
See what I mean, Doug?
An FCC complaint was an extreme measure that will bring us to the brink of losing our licenses, but it was the last resort.

And here it is again: Sakowicz threatening to sue KZYX. This threat was made previously on the Programmers' list, provoking immediate censure, and now he has made it in public.
If you were wondering whether he really has the station's best interest in mind, or is just motivated by self-regard, here's your answer. Sakowicz knows as well as anyone that the station could be financially crippled by a court battle, and is trying to bully them with threats of legal action. I don't know what his personal finances are like, but he's a self-described "money guy," and obviously believes he has the resources to wage a legal fight.
To those who have a genuine desire to see positive changes at KZYX - a goal I share - please do not get tangled up with this personal vendetta John Sakowicz has declared against John Coate. It's all about the Sako, and your goals will get lost in his ego.
Tim
