Hello Willow and Tim,

I have managed to sign-up for way too many e-newsletter and
notifications that I am literally drowning in daily emails. I am
however, working at getting them back to a manageable level.

Tim, I met you during the celebration for Measure S at Big River, just
briefly. I have been working on, as time allows, on a similar kind of
network for people on the coast, as we frequently fall off the radar in
a number of ways when it comes to county projects. Specifically, though
I began with the task of reviving the Transition Mendocino Coast
website, I am now trying different platforms for a kind of one-stop web
presence where the coastal community can easily check-in on what people
are doing in the way of transitioning to more sustainable and
collaborative living practices, that are aligned with Community Rights
and the Rights of Nature. A place where people can get information, ask
questions and contribute if they wish - regardless of the group from
which the work originates.

I actually have a couple of problems with the email message that you
attached:

 > I find the opening question offensive, unless I am misreading it.
/*"What would our world look like if the highest law in the land as
people knew it to be when they started this country - The People?"*/ The
highest law in this land and all other lands is what it has always
been...the Law of Nature. Our primary responsibility is to protect the
rights of Nature, which include human rights. The people (or white men)
who "started this country," or who imposed a different order of law upon
the People who were already here and living in harmony with Nature,
should not be the focus of discussions in either community rights or
rights of Nature, in my opinion.

 > The other issue I have is that the physical gatherings that take
place inland (whether in Willits or Ukiah) and in Fort Bragg, often seem
to end up being inland activities with ample support from county
organizations while people initially involved on the coast find
themselves in a position where they must juggle schedules and make
arrangements for transport. I have experienced this disconnect with the
Homeless Services and Mental Health Services group meetings, with NCO's
support for the Gardens Project, and more recently with the campaign for
support of the Farm School in Willits (from which I would love to be
able to benefit.)

Please don't misunderstand me, I am in complete supportive of all
positive movement regardless of where it is occurring. But I feel that I
must also make noise about the fact that, the people of Fort Bragg
specifically (and I think people of the Point Arena and Gualala area as
well) are not in good shape. We have virtually no local food system
going here, there are no self-directed educational opportunities (like
Mendo Free Skool, Ecology Action, Farm Schools, Permaculture
courses/activities, etc.) at any level. Our city government is asleep at
the wheel, and while there is exceptional progress coming out of Caspar
and Mendo, when the trucks stopping bringing "food" over the hill, the
US dollar takes its final dive, or gas/oil prices reach the truly
unaffordable level - whichever happens to come first - I foresee a major
problem.

Again, I am of course not saying that there will be no problems
everywhere else, and the state of every community is precarious with its
own unique complexities. I am only saying that, in my opinion, there
seems to be far less support in our efforts to get connected within our
community. I would love to work together to find solutions for more
effective networking - bringing more people into the important
conversations and encouraging on-the-ground action.

Feel free to call me...707.962.9059

Namaste,
Tammy
