> Building on the introduction to the language of Non-Violent Communication
> (NVC) provided by Kelly Larson and Sandy Marshall at our December 2014
> meeting, Michael and Maria Teresa will help us explore how "NVC
> consciousness" can inform and enhance our interactions in the world. They
> will present the principles underlying "universal dialog", "unconditional
> positive regard", "empathic listening", and "engaging the third chair",
> and will suggest ways in which application of these principles can
> transform seemingly irreconcilable communications into opportunities for
> connection. The possibility of authentic personal engagement can then show
> up, as distinct from falling into the programmed thinking and reacting
> patterns that the larger culture encourages us to employ (separation,
> victimhood, etc.).
>
> Maria Teresa and Michael have been studying NVC with Miki Kashtan and
> other NVC teachers for several years. They lead an NVC class alternate
> Mondays in Mendocino. Michael has completed the 'Mediate Your Life'
> program that applies NVC principles to mediation and is certified as a
> mediator by the Recourse mediation program in Sonoma County.
