At the beginning of February, I went to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend a formational gathering of a new national Community Rights support organization, inspired and pulled together by our friend, Paul Cienfuegos.  There were 8 of us, on couches and chairs in a cozy living room of a 1913 Victorian home, for 3 full days, eating together, getting to know each other, brainstorming mission statements, various roles of people within the new organization, practicing consensus decision making (a great story here of how we decided how to decide... phew...even in a group of 8 wanting to work together the process was neither quick nor without tears!), talking about specific business models, money, and the unspoken privilege of organizations depending on volunteers (what allows someone to have the time to volunteer?). At first I was hesitant to attend, not wanting to add more stress nor commitments to my plate, however, thanks to donations from members of the CRN group helped me lighten my financial burden, and the invitation from Paul C to participate in this creative and historic experience sounded like an opportunity I would feel silly to decline. 
Come join a potluck, hear some stories from this gathering, and get together with folks to talk about next steps in Community Rights.
Also, please pass this on to other groups, friends, strangers... folks who may be interested in hearing about this...or at the very least make a nice potluck dish! :)
