[CRNMC] National Divestment Day

Although yesterday, Friday, was National Divestment Day, I just thought
you might be interested in this.  

The last time that the
MCPBC met with Shari Shapmire, our County Treasurer, about 2 months ago,
we handed her a list of the 100 biggest petroleum companies and the 100
biggest coal companies and asked her to divest the County's money from
these companies.  

Shari looked over the list and said
that there is only one company on the list that the county invests in,
Occidental Petroleum.  I mentioned to her that a subsidiary of
Occidental Petroleum, Vintage Petroleum, owns the exploratory fracking
leases in the Eel River Basin.  Shari raised her eyebrows and
responded, "Oh!" with a tone of surprised interest.  

If we want to demonstrate for divestment, we should do it in front
of the County Administration Building for our Treasurer to divest from
Occidental Petroleum.
