DECOLONIZATION  OF  MIND
=========================
Lunch-Time Discussion Group Announcement
Event Title: Healing Ourselves From The Dishonesty Virus
Time & Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 12:30PM
(we meet on the second Tuesday of the month)
Location: Downtown Ft. Bragg (see directions below)

Event Description
=============
As Americans, we are presented with many dishonest representations every single day. We are in fact encouraged to believe that such dishonesty is normal, acceptable, and perhaps even well adapted. For example, our politicians tells us that expanding the American military-industrial empire and taking the natural resources belonging to other nations is “spreading democracy.” They also tell us that the US Constitution was the result of the will of the American people made manifest.

While some lies are based on myth, and are by many people simply innocently passed along by word of mouth, our discussion at this meeting will focus upon the deliberate lies that are made to change our world views, beliefs, values, and behaviors. Advertising and public relations provide us with ample examples, and while those lies need to be explicitly called out, especially because they may cause us to act in ways that are against our own self-interest, this meeting will go deeper, by focusing on the way we are often unconsciously sucked into participating in a culture of dishonesty.

Through inflammatory and unnecessarily emotional language, hyperbole, drama, exaggeration, puffery, and spin, our emotions are provoked constantly, and to decolonize ourselves it is important that we be aware when we are being played. We will focus on moving to a deeper understanding of honesty with self, and how that self-authenticity is the starting point for a truly decolonized mind. Whether or not we chose to confront the political correctness, fibs, white lies, misrepresentations, manipulative twistings, deceptive colorations, and/or outright frauds that surrounds us, to be truly free, we should at least be connected with the all emcompassing truth in our own minds and hearts.

Facilitator
========
Charles Cresson Wood is a law school student and a local organizer for Mendocino Coast Transition Towns. He is also a personal coach and the author of the frame-shift meditation book entitled “Opening To Abundance,” which can be found on Amazon.com. The perspectives of this group’s participants will be actively solicited, voiced, pondered, and discussed. The event will provide attendees with an honest exploratory discussion among a group of equals -- it will NOT be a teach-in, a download of any creed, an indoctrination, or a sales pitch of any type. Everyone is welcome.

Location & Directions
================
The location of this meeting will be Linda’s house in Fort Bragg. Consistent with the nature of our discussions -- which are not approved or endorsed by any government agency or corporate entity -- there's no official address that you could look up on Google maps, since Linda lives in an alley. To get there, drive east on Oak Street for about a mile from Hwy 1. Wall Street is on the right side and her house is in the alley right after Wall Street (between Wall and Sanderson). There's a fire hydrant at the alley. Make a right into the alley (you can't make a left) and her house is the first (and only) house you come to. The house number is 139-1/2.

About the Decolonization of Mind Group
===============================
An outgrowth of Mendocino Coast Transition Towns and the Community Rights Network of Mendocino County, this discussion group was a spin-off from a weekend workshop that activist Paul Cienfuegos facilitated in February 2014. That workshop, dealing with community rights, and the powers of people versus those of corporations, included a challenge from Paul that the participants not only understand how their minds have been colonized, but how they could escape from that colonization. In keeping with Paul’s challenge, the decolonization of mind group has, since that time, sought to go beyond the propaganda from government, the indoctrination of the public school system, the brainwashing from corporate advertising, and also the myths created and perpetuated via movies, TV, newspapers, Facebook, and other modern media. The discussion group has met monthly and seeks to empower its members to be able to emancipate themselves from all that, so that they may come back to their own personal power to live the life they feel called to live.
