> SPOKANE, WA: ENVISION SPOKANE LAUNCHES FIRST-IN-NATION WORKER BILL OF RIGHTS
>
> In Spokane, WA, CELDF partner Envision Spokane worked with CELDF to draft a Worker Bills of Rights, which has been proposed as a citizens’ initiative for the November ballot. The proposed Charter Amendment would secure rights for workers, including the right to be paid a family wage and the right to receive equal pay for equal work. Further, the measure prohibits corporations from using their corporate “rights” to interfere with the rights of workers. If adopted, this would be the first such Worker Bill of Rights in the country. > OREGON: COMMUNITY RIGHTS STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
>
> The Oregon Community Rights Network (ORCRN) recently launched a campaign to advance a state constitutional amendment codifying Community Rights to local self-government to protect local ecosystems, economies, and way of life. ORCRN’s efforts parallel those of the Colorado Community Rights Network (COCRN), which has a similar campaign under way. CELDF worked with both state Networks to draft the constitutional amendments. The Eugene Weekly covers this story here.
