Dear Shannon,
I think you are not realizing how few people we have doing lots of
things to try & get this measure passed.
It is the middle of the road show and then the following week is the
next fundraiser. Publicity is not easy in such a varied and country area
(some papers really care from whom - how local - the writers are.) At
this time we have this team stretched to the running point.
A portion of the people on our team are only interested ( for NOW) in
getting this measure passed. Not sure what they'll have time & energy
for when it happens - lots of work to be caught up on.
Also we do not have a lot of money floating around right now for
doing many things. I know that's the point of the fundraisers, but it
presently feels like a slow process.
Finally, many people in the community seem to be very busy with their
own harvesting at this time of year.
There is also the matter that this only went to the point people.
That's not a very big group of people. The message was passed onto the
fundraiser people, but Tim noted he couldn't help, Doug said he was
willing to help, and most everyone else is out putting on the Roadshow.
Also this is a community of which many people don't read their email
daily (or even have computers) - for some they read it weekly! or need
to get phone calls.
I'm sorry if this sounds defensive, but I feel that a 24 hour notice
is unreasonable for this group, which I feel is stretched thin to put on
our present events, make buttons, road signs, etc. We are a volunteer
organization of country living people, trying to keep home & family
together as we pass this measure. In the country, certain things must be
done this time of year regardless of politics.
Thank you for all your help, but please realize what our time frame
needs are for communication on important matters. 24 hour notice will
just not work for us.
Be well,
Beth
