Some updates from elsewhere!

GRANT TOWNSHIP, PA: Yesterday, Grant Township, PA, joined the growing
Community Rights movement. The Township Board of Supervisors unanimously
adopted a CELDF-drafted Community Bill of Rights Ordinance banning frack
wastewater injection wells as a violation of community and nature¹s rights
elevating the community¹s rights over corporate ³rights.² Click here to read
more.

COLORADO: The Colorado Community Rights Network (COCRN) successfully
stopped the gas industry from blocking their CELDF-drafted Community Rights
statewide citizens¹ initiative. The Colorado Supreme Court recently approved
of the initiative moving forward. Now, the COCRN and its partners are
collecting signatures to qualify initiative #75 for the November ballot.

YOUNGSTOWN, OH: Residents of Youngstown, OH, concerned about fracking and
related activities, launched their fourth Community Rights Charter Amendment
campaign for the November ballot. The CELDF-drafted Amendment bans fracking
and injection wells within the City. Inspired by the increasing number of
votes they are obtaining with each campaign despite the industry-backed
opposition residents are determined to join the more than 150 communities
across the country who have adopted Community Rights laws.

MORA COUNTY, NM: CELDF¹s work in Mora County, NM, is in the spotlight in
Outside Magazine. Mora is being sued by the oil and gas industry to overturn
the county¹s Community Bill of Rights Ordinance banning fracking and all
hydrocarbon extraction. Corporations are claiming their constitutional
³rights² supersede the community¹s rights. CELDF is assisting Mora County to
defend its Ordinance. Click here to read more.

COMMUNITY RIGHTS PAPER #2: CELDF¹s Community Rights Papers continue to
explore the growing Community Rights Movement. This second of the series is
on corporate propaganda, revealing the language we embrace in our lexicon
that blinds us from the harm that is actually happening and how
communities today are seeing through the propaganda as they confront the
reality of environmental devastation in their neighborhoods. Read the second
paper here: A Celebration of NIMBY ³Not in my Backyard, not in ANY
Backyard!²
