Dear Californians,
The National Triple Divide Tour is coming to California! We (Public Herald
<http://publicherald.org> ) like you to be a part by becoming a co-host for
screenings in southern CA between August 23-28th (we're thinking San Diego,
Bakersfield, Santa Barbara?) and central/northern California between Aug.
30th - Sept. 10 (Monterey, S.Fran, Sacramento). We are open to suggestions
for other locations, and need to confirm venues and dates as soon as
possible. We provide press releases, posters and even have copy & paste
tweets!
There will also be a private screening (tentatively Aug. 26th) in Hollywood
with Mark Ruffalo, who co-narrated the film, and invited guests that
co-hosts will be able to attend. Our screenings are free to the public but
we sometimes suggest donations at the door.
Triple Divide is an investigation of fracking in Pennsylvania focused
primarily on water impacts and waste streams, but also on environmental and
human rights. The filmmakers, journalists Melissa Troutman and Joshua
Pribanic, are touring the film across the U.S.A. thanks to the INNovation
Fund & Knight Foundation:
http://www.publicherald.org/archives/19280/tripledivide/. They'll cross the
country in over 10,000 miles using zero gasoline and emitting zero
greenhouse gas in a Tesla Model S.
We recently appeared on The Daily Show:
http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/w5j292/the-benefits-of-fracking
& HuffPost LIVE:
http://live.huffingtonpost.com/r/archive/segment/53b3383cfe34443051000186
Co-hosting involves:
1) Helping to secure (free) venues such as theaters, community centers,
auditoriums, schools, libraries, churches (we may consider splitting costs
for venues with a rental fee; we travel with projection and audio equipment)
2) Forwarding and posting promotional materials once booked - we will
prepare fliers, posters, radio spots, and press materials for you to use
3) Print posters or fliers to distribute in and around venues
4) $40 co-host buy-in PER VENUE for Public Exhibition License (i.e. 4 hosts
= $10 each)
This is a great opportunity to put your issues and campaigns in front of
audiences we pull in, and we encourage a panelist from local organizations
join us on stage for discussion afterward.
We want to maintain the journalistic integrity of Triple Divide, which we
made to be a common ground for people on different sides of the issue to
talk about the real impacts from fracking. Hence, we ask that co-hosts
please refrain from calling the film ³anti-fracking² - if your group¹s
position is against fracking, that¹s perfectly fine. However, Triple Divide
is not an ³anti-fracking² film - it is an investigation of shale gas
extraction from cradle-to-grave. We¹re touring the film as an educational
opportunity for any and all residents to get the truth about fracking in
front of a wider audience.
A press kit is also attached with more details about the directors,
investigation, etc. Below is a checklist we will use to help carry out
promotions. There are poster and flyer templates on our Screenings Checklist
online as well: http://tripledividefilm.org/screenings/checklist/.
You can watch the film using a promo code at the following link:
https://vimeo.com/ondemand/tripledivide
>> * code: tripledivide_watersentinels enter the code by clicking 'buy' or
>> 'rent' and then click on 'Have a discount code?' If you have trouble
>> streaming in HD try downloading a version of the film.
Please let me know if you'd like to host with us in California!
Sincerely,
Melissa Troutman

Triple Divide Promotions Checklist
Week 1: (45 - 90 mins)
Find volunteers:
>
> Recruit volunteers to help promote your event. Assign volunteers to complete
future tasks.
> Create a task list for outreach (press releases, phone calls, radio, Letters
to the Editor, canvassing flyers, etc.) FYI: Google Drive is nice for organizing
and collaboration.
Create a Facebook Event: Here is an example.
>
> Your event needs a ³location² and we typically use Facebook and then ³share²
or link to it from other places online.
> For now, please use Triple Divide photos for the event header, etc. Later
(week 2) we¹ll have a flyer/poster you can use as a header on your event page.
Changing the header image refreshes the event in your fans¹ feeds! (Good FB tip:
http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/227590)
> IMPORTANT: for anyone who doesn¹t know this already, you can invite ALL of
your FB friends to an event at the same time using a special code! Here¹s how
(make sure you use Firefox as a browser for this) - Go here:
https://www.facebook.com/selectallfriendsmozilla - click on the image in the
header for step-by-step instructions.

>>> Synopsis: ³Triple Divide attempts to answer the question, ³How are state
>>> regulations and industry handling impacts from fracking?² It reveals how
>>> water contamination is being covered up by the industry and the state,

>>> support fracking. Meanwhile, state regulators are using compliance as a
>>> means of regulating without enforcing the law, abandoning the public in the

>>>
>>> Birthplace of Rivers: ³Triple Divide¹s title represents one of only four
>>> Triple Continental Divides in North America, a birthplace of three rivers
>>> that reach separate parts of the continent and provide drinking water to
>>> millions of Americans, signaling to the audience that everything, and
>>> everyone, is downstream from shale gas extraction.²
>>>
>>> The Hulk: ³Actor Mark Ruffalo co-narrates this 18-month cradle-to-grave
>>> investigation by Public Herald, an investigative news nonprofit co-founded
>>> by journalists Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman. Triple Divide features
