Subject: Beth's letter

I feel the need to reply to this just for some clarification as I
have had no communication with Beth until recently and did not even
know who she was until last Sunday.

As someone who has participated in every "core group meeting" I do
not recall her listening in to any of them.  I know that Micheal
Dean has not participated in the campaign for some time and never
spoke with him myself.  My feeling on this is that perhaps they
"listened in" to a Process group meeting as those meetings were
advertised on this list serve as open and all were invited.  If so,
this explains why they spent the entire time talking about process.

It is possible that they listened in to our "core group meeting" with
the knowledge only of the person who facilitated the meeting.  If so,
they did this without telling the rest of us and we got no feedback
from them as to how to run our meetings more effectively and
efficiently.  Any feedback on this would be much appreciated as I
for one am new at this and need all the help I can get.

While I have the utmost compassion for Beth's feeling of burnout, as
myself and more than one other member of the core group have
expressed the same, I wonder why she feels like herself and a few
others outside the core group are running the campaign.  If they
feel they are doing so, I would ask that they consider joining the
core group as we have been looking for help.  It seems to me we
should be working together on this and at least trying to follow the
protocol set up by the CRNMC during campaign day and the follow up
group meetings that the core group worked hard to organize.  While I
am sympathetic to the many of you who are very focused on the campaign
for Measure S (and obviously with less than 10 weeks to go we are all
becoming more so) it has been my feeling as a member of the core
group to be inclusive of those members of the CRNMC who desire to
focus on process and organizational structure.  It is my hope that
we can create an organization that does not alienate any member of
our community who wishes to help in any capacity.  Personally, I do
not see how we can run a campaign without some such structure and I
seek to find a balance in my own work between making sure the
organization is functional and getting the job done on Measure S.
For me these are one and the same.

I thank Beth for making her concerns known and invite her and others
to consider joining the core group  We are also creating a system
whereby members of the CRNMC can listen in to our meetings and
provide feedback as there is always room for improvement.  Also, in
the spirit of transparency we will begin to post our core group
agenda and meeting minutes in the archive section at crnmc.org, which
will be up and running ASAP.

Thank you,

Doug McKenty
