HI all,
some time ago I was asked to put my thoughts together for what a flyer might be - here is the outline I prepared for that, please have a look.
Advice on your flier - should not contain ANY legalese - should be plain English, good urgent energy: we have a problem (decisions about our water and community are being made by others) and a solution (Community Rights ordinance puts us in charge and bans fracking)! If you like the outline I have attached (not necessarily the art that was just a placeholder), I am happy to fill it in with the ideas/content. All areas of the flyer should lead back to/reinforce why community rights, and be maybe punchier in tone.
Also:
You need a way for people to get involved besides facebook - not everyone uses facebook do you have a website? And do you have an ask for folks Read the ordinance here, Sign the petition, get involved, volunteer, join us in asserting our right to decide!!! ;-)
also, you might want to use this video link which speaks specifically to community rights and fracking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP0O6jIESHc
I'm happy to work on this today but I need someone to say that is wanted - I don't know the process for this project, who is bottomlining the content, etc. is this the media team? PLease someone send me a direct message or call and I can't always keep up on this thread.
Best, Shannon

Hi,
There is "Water" in the title and then in the body it talks about air and soil damage- this is about more than water - it is, after all, a single issue ordinance and fracking is the issue, as we voted on at Democracy School, not water - the positive side of the title leads with "Community Rights".
A single-issue ordinances with "Ecosystems rights" as the single issue would be the time to emphasize this since the right of the ecosystem in our ordinance pertains only to fracking damage.
My two cents,
Caitlin

Here is the latest version taking Beth's suggestions.
I left DECIDING ABOUT WATER in the headline because it was my understanding that this was the POSITIVE impetus for us that makes this a different kind of ordinance than just a fracking ban, which it is as the single issue.
There is room to add the website and/or other contacts.
If someone wants to make a fracking ban flyer...... why not?.
Meg
