Can we, please, be clear !   

The term "may be extended"  is a "maybe" conditional word, 

nothing committed

nothing firm.

to make an informed decision and make statements that we can extend by 2 more weeks before gathering signatures is premature.

If the county says that "we have a deadline in mid July or August"

that is another matter

we can not assume anything.

Please, clear, concise communication.
