Shannon suggested, "Protecting our water.  It's up to us."  How about
"PROTECTING OUR WATER IS UP TO US."?  It flows (no pun intended) better and
would take up less room. But it has all the needed meanings in it that
Shannon is talking about (right, Shannon?).  Maybe  some musical person
could even make a song or jingle out of it.  What do ya'll think??
