You have probably heard some of the discussion in the community about the state law requiring our coast hospital to complete seismic retrofit by year 2030. Some ask - is this true? is it necessary? What is the cost? What does this mean for our community? well, tune in to the MCHCD Board meeting next week, 6pm, May 23 to hear what Carl<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Scheuerman</span>, Senior Policy Advisor, HCAI (California Department of Health Care & Information) has to say about this. We could continue to spend our time in rumor, but I think most of us would like to know some facts about the situation and the state requirement. The Zoom link will be available with the May 23 agenda usually 72 in advance of the Board meeting - <a href="https://www.mchcd.org/" style="color: blue;">https://www.mchcd.org</a><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><o:p> </o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">I’ve also attached below a recently published information piece from MCHCD.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Cheers, Anna Garza<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><o:p> </o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif;">FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">May 10, 2024 <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif;">Coast Health Care District to Hear from State Experts</span></b><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif;">on Seismic Compliance</span></b><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif;">The Mendocino Coast Health Care District Board announces that </span>Carl<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Scheuerman</span>, Senior Policy Advisor, HCAI (California Department of Health Care & Information), will speak on our community hospital's retrofit requirements at the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, May 23. Hospitals within the impacted area suffered severe structural damage and many became inoperable. Recognizing the insufficiency of the existing seismic safety standards for hospitals, the state of California signed Senate Bill 1953</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif; color: rgb(41, 41, 41); letter-spacing: 0.15pt;"> (SB 1953, </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Calibri Light", sans-serif; color: rgb(32, 33, 36); background: white;">the Alfred E.
