We’re as good as we can be with a one in/out access. If you want to post this to your distribution, it would update folks not on my distribution who might not have received this info a few years ago. </div><div>Here’s what happened >></div><div><br></div><div>- Fire Chief Steve Orsi collaborated with FBragg Cal Fire, State Parks and pushed through a CEQA on our behalf to clear and widen Gibney Ln at our west end - where Mitchell Creek south curves. This is maintained by Cal Fire every year, it’s in their service area work plan. But! important for neighbors to understand = this is for ingress ONLY for emergency vehicles. It’s critical for residents to understand that their evacuation route will almost always be Simpson Ln to Hwy 1. IF that weren’t possible, the emergency responders are the folks to make the call and guide residents out of here so good we’re appreciative that Gibney is there.</div><div><br></div><div>- as for the infamous “berm” at the west end of <b>private</b> drive Pearl > in Nov 2019 our committee did a walk of that whole drive with Cal Fire and Chief Orsi. They reviewed the situation and stated that the berm was no problem - in case of wildfire they’d just order a back hoe and come on in. Plus the Cal fire captain entered those coordinates into the SA GPS for future reference.</div><div>UPDATE: more recently, probably fall of 2023, the situation got much better > Chief Orsi informed me that one of the 4 property owners on that Pearl shared easement sold to a new owner who is very public safety minded. That new owner removed the berm (which was on his property), installed a new fire/security gate, and our fire chief has the combo. Again, in case of emergency Pearl Dr will be for ingress of emergency vehicles.</div><div><br></div><div>Short of building a new road somewhere else in/out of the Simpson Ln neighborhood, which is unlikely given the great cost, we now essentially have <b><u>two</u></b> <b>emergency ingress </b>for fire vehicles, and one good 2-lane paved road in/out exit which is Simpson Ln.</div><div><br></div><div>I’ve attached the Simpson Ln ‘Evacuation Plan’ if you would be kind enough to distribute all this to your list.
