I am a nearly 40 year resident of the Mendocino and Sonoma Coast in Northern Ca.I have 3 children, and 1 grandchild, , a 35 year old adopted son, and 13 year old twin daughters. I have an extensive resume as a community organizer, in environmental and social justice issues, have worked with children in schools and in group homes with emotionally traumatized children, I am a certified parent educator and have facilitated numerous parenting workshops, I am a storyteller of the oral tradition and have mentored many young people along their Rites of Passage, and for many years hosted Public Affairs programs on our community radio KZYX<br class="">All these paths and many others led me to seek the position of County Supervisor in 2018, On June 26,2018 I suffered a near fatal hemmorraghic stroke, that has left me with numerous physical challenges.<br class=""><br class="">When the stroke hit me, I had to be flown down to San Francisco, for brain surgery that would save my life,, during the stroke I had an N .D. E. ( near death experience).Although physical limitations remain, I often need a walking stick for assistance, and my left hand does not yet work, the N D E has immensely animated my life, and I am living life with new vigor and am engaged in my community in n numerous ways and am seeking to be supported.I have given some public talks about my experience and the insights into life the stroke has brought me, I had several more scheduled but the pandemic slowed that down.Although recently I have begun speaking in public again, this time incorporating Sacred Sounds <a href="https://mendocinosoundhealing.com/" class="">https://mendocinosoundhealing.com</a> The talks are a combination of poetry, anecdote,sacred sound and quite honestly- i am never quite sure what will pop out of my mouth and heart they are set up to be benefits for community groups a couple of talks i have done can be found on u tube.<br class=""><br class="">My passion for community organizing is alive and well, I have resumed my KZYX show “Universal Perspectives”, where i have hosted numerous shows of community interest. When I can drive again,I will likely pick up another show on KGUA in Gualala. I am also active again with environmental causes again, becoming an organizer with the Coalition to Save Jackson Demonstration State Forest <a href="http://www.savejackson.org/" class="">www.savejackson.org</a> this campaign combines environmental, social justice, decoupling the corporate control of public land,cultural reconciliation with 1st nations people. and climate change all rolled together and i’m very excited to be a part of it! I am recently turning my attention to our housing crisis, networking with groups trying to establish Community Land Trusts. My interest in serving children and families remains strong, I will soon launch a youtube channel called Mr.Skyhawk’s Nest, The content will be a mix of story and song with guests who will talk about nature, art, many other topics of interest, it’s intended to be a safe, nurturing and educational online space for children and families.I have a professionally recorded a theme song with my twin daughters Inyo and Kiara and have secured the services of professional videographer Steve Richie,We have recorded 2 episodes so far, we intend to launch soon.<br class=""><br class="">If you decide to be a patron of any size,I would of course be massively grateful, one thing that will be different about my Patreon, is that there will be no personal perks/exclusive content access.I intend to continue to run my life with the idea, that everything I do and offer is a Giveaway to my community,and my fellow denizens of this earth.
