Oasis passed away this week. I recorded his poetry at a dozen events over the years, and always looked forward to his performances at the annual Mendocino Spring Poetry Celebration. I first met him in the 80s on the dance floor at the Casper Inn, making innovative moves to African bands. I was in the two-step thumper group in the back and was always amazed at Darryl’s skill and precision. I attended several of his storytelling performances and he was a spell-caster.
