But as Rotarians we will carry on.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Over the last couple of weeks I have received messages of thanks for being President from many of you, which have given me the energy to go on, but I think the messages are more about our club, which has proven tenacious, resilient and adaptive in its desire to continue meeting, and providing support for our community, local, national and international, even despite the difficulties of the pandemic. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">We accomplished a lot during the last year, including substantial fund raising for the mitigation of the pandemic and through a restaurant raffle, provision of support for mitigating the impacts of the pandemic, continuing with other community services including development of the park, youth and international services.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">But we also encountered some setbacks, including a lack of occasions in which we could get together face to face, shortages of people able to reach out into our community, particularly youth, and our inability to recruit as many new members as we had hoped. Our club is aging and we need to discuss what we will do with it. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">So we will dedicate January to a look backward at what we have accomplished, and a discussion about what we want to do going forward and what we will do about it.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On Thursday January 7 we will talk about what has worked and what has not worked, and what we might like to do in the way of social functions and fund raisers. We will talk about the work of various committees, and solicit member interest in various positions. Harold has said this will be his last year as Treasurer, and we will have to talk about what course of action we will follow to replace his extremely valuable inputs. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On Thursday January 14 we will have a guest speaker, to be announced, and continue the discussion.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On Thursday January 21 we will reflect on matters raised earlier in the month, and</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">firm up our program going forward for the rest of the Rotary year. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On Thursday January 28 we will vote on a new President-Elect and President-Nominee, and any other issues including an update of our budget for the year and other outstanding matters.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Some of our members have not been attending zoom meetings, which we all hope will soon not be needed any longer.
