<div dir="ltr">I am still stumped as to the <span class="" id=":4p6.1" tabindex="-1" style="">Covid</span> Committee's role and composition. Since Mike is out of town, and to my knowledge hasn't held any actual committee meetings, should someone else be chairperson? No offense Mike, if you are inclined to jump on this, please do.<div><br></div><div>As Community Service Chair I suppose I should be taking a more active role, but I continue to frequently feel drained, and don't believe that I have much talent for organization. It was a struggle to get the homeless trash pickup project going. To be honest, I am happier picking up trash myself and donating money than trying to reach consensus in our club. If someone else will lead, I will pitch in and follow. Jeff has already done a LOT of work on this, as he did/does on our international project. Being our president is a hard enough job, he needs someone else to step up.<div><br></div><div>Who is our contact with the school system? Who asked for help with remote access, and who asked for food and clothing? Kids with no internet will get no education until the situation changes, and I believe that day is a year away. State and local tax revenues are way down, and we cannot count on our federal government for help. </div><div><br></div><div>Remote learning hardware fits the Rotary emphasis on sustainability, food and clothing do not. If the food bank needs truck repairs or another refrigerator, those are reasonable grant requests. Groceries are not. I would contribute to and solicit for donations of warm clothing items like we did last year, but would oppose giving club money for clothing purchases. Most of it is still relevant, although it is quite likely that the project description will change, depending upon what we come up with. I will plan on reworking it after our meeting of the 20th and before our meeting of the 27th.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">We will have a regular zoom meeting next week on August 27, followed by a board meeting on the 27th to approve the budget. For purpose of the budget, I would like to see a paper or working note from each committee and avenue of service chair. At present, we have such notes only for international and COVID-19, and the latter needs to be updated.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Although we had a good turnout last seek, several members continue to miss meetings.
