there is a Reader Challenge to make “Heart of the Home” quilts. These are small
(14” x 14”) quilts that include a house motif that will be donated to an
organization called Furnishing Hope. This 501(c)3, non-denominational
organization furnishes homes for transitional families. In cooperation with
non-profits throughout California, with military hospitals and with the VA,
they have furnished over 350 homes, including over 250 for wounded veterans.
This year, they plan to furnish 100 more. (Check out their website at furnishinghope.org)<br></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <br></p><p class="MsoNormal">I plan to make one of these little quilts to send in to the
Quilting Arts Challenge. The quilt must reach their office by December 7<sup>th</sup>.
I would be happy to send in quilts made by other OWQ members at the same time.<br></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <br></p><p class="MsoNormal">The quilts need to get to me no later than December 2<sup>nd</sup>.<br></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <br></p><p class="MsoNormal">A gallery of quilts in the challenge will be published in
the April/May 2019 issue of Quilting Arts magazine – we could see ours in
print!<br></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <br></p><p class="MsoNormal">The rules are:<br></p><ol type="1" start="1" style="margin-top:0in"><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">The quilt must have the
theme “Heart of the Home”.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">The quilt must be 14” x 14”.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">The quilt must include a house motif.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">Embellishments must not
protrude more than ½” from the surface of the quilt.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">The quilt can be made of
any materials, but must have 3 layers, be quilted, and be closed around
the edges.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">2 rings or pop-top can
tabs must be attached in the upper corners for easy hanging.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">No text or images
protected by copyright, unless you have written permission.<br></li><li style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal">Permanently label your quilt on the
