<p>In addition to North Korea's recent barrage of missile tests, they have conducted five nuclear weapons tests since 2006. They appear to be preparing to conduct another one.
<strong>In a matter of days, the U.S. Senate will consider dangerous legislation that could undermine efforts to halt North Korea's nuclear tests.</strong> Rather than stigmatize these provocative tests, this bill would signal that the United States is considering
a resumption of nuclear weapons tests. <a href="http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1021384&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0">
Will you tell your senators to oppose this legislation?</a></p>
<p>Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas' misguided bill is unprecedented for two reasons:</p>
<ul>
<li>First, it reduces funding for the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, which is preparing to verify a ban on testing.
</li><li>Second, it would declare that the United States is not obliged to refrain from nuclear weapons tests.
</li></ul>
<p>The worst response to North Korea's tests would be to restart U.S. nuclear weapons tests.<strong> Contact your senators today as the international community honors the International Day Against Nuclear Weapons Tests<em>.</em></strong> On July 26, PSR and
twelve allied organizations sent a letter to the U.S. Senate urging them to oppose Senator Cotton's bill.
