There is a petition is this to oppose three sites the government wants to place cell towers in Redwood Forests, not for citizens to get cellphone reception but to put spy communications for State, local police and Federal agencies. They require areas of the
Forests to be clearcut perpetually, even where sensitive wildlife and Native Sacred sites are now.<br>

Redwood National Park was established to protect magnificent Redwood Forests and is obligated by law to regulate use of the parks in such a manner as to leave them in an unimpaired condition. A proposed communications tower and adjacent perpetual clearcut would
result in long-term negative impacts to park resources.</p>

someone thinks it’s a good idea to put a massive communications tower, with an adjacent clearcut in Redwood National Park. In total, three communication towers, with a height range of 120 to 270 feet and with adjacent clearcuts that must be perpetually maintained
for the sake of the towers, are proposed for Rodgers Peak (in Redwood National Park), Alder Camp (a state-owned prison facility), and on Rattlesnake Peak (privately owned by Green Diamond). The towers would provide radio coverage for federal, state and local
agencies but would <em>not </em>provide any cell phone reception for the nearby communities.</p>

EPIC’s California Forest and Wildlife Advocate made the trip down to the Central Valley to be present in the halls of Sacramento politics and decision-making last week, to represent the voice of Northwest California’s forests. On Thursday, February 16, Rob
spent the day at the California Environmental Protection Agency building in downtown Sacramento, attending a meeting of the California Air Resources Board, and an inter-agency workshop on the Draft California Forest Carbon Plan.</p>
