Dear Agnes,<br><br>
American workers have good reason to be wary of international trade agreements. In the past, those agreements have been stacked with corporate handouts.<br><br>
In the Senate, we can use the amendment process to modify trade agreements so American workers get a fair shake. But if we adopt a so-called “fast track” on trade agreements, the amendment process goes out the window.<br><br><a href="http://action.sherrodbrown.com/page/m/302fe3c0/44409cfb/12e65c4a/2002b4f8/3330000242/VEsH/" title="http://action.sherrodbrown.com/e150327"><u><strong>It’s up to the Senate to make sure that trade agreements put American workers and American jobs first. That’s why I’m joining with my colleagues to oppose the fast track -- join us by signing our petition.</strong></u></a><br><br>
Absent an amendment process, trade agreements would just face an up-or-down vote in the Senate. In an economy as large and complex as ours, that’s a potential recipe for disaster.<br><br>
We’ve seen what happens when we get free trade wrong. Jobs leave town and they don’t come back. Big corporations send more and more work to far-off places, and American families suffer for it.<br><br>
Ohio lost almost 35,000 jobs thanks to NAFTA, and the country as a whole lost more than 680,000. We can’t afford to let that happen again. <a href="http://action.sherrodbrown.com/page/m/302fe3c0/44409cfb/12e65c4a/2002b4f8/3330000242/VEsE/" title="http://action.sherrodbrown.com/e150327"><u><strong>Join me and say no to fast tracking trade agreements.</strong></u></a><br><br>
