The merging of two of the largest cable and Internet service providers would be bad news for our communities here and across the country.</strong><sup>2</sup> The deal would likely result in less consumer choice, less media diversity and much higher cable and Internet bills. It would also undermine open Internet rules recently put in place by the Federal Communications Commission.</p><p><a href="http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/comcast_twc/?t=1&akid=4192.1023540.AdiERD" target="blank"><strong>Sign this letter now and tell the CPUC you are against this merger.</strong></a></p> <center><p style="margin: 1em 0pt;"><a href="http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/comcast_twc/?t=2&akid=4192.1023540.AdiERD" target="blank"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.colorofchange.org/images/merger450.png" alt="WABC" border="0"></a></p></center><p style="margin: 1em 0px;"><strong>In California, if this merger goes through Comcast would serve 84% of homes in the state, giving them unlimited power to set pricing and dictate services.</strong> They’d also be able to essentially circumvent net neutrality rules by charging businesses for direct services to their network — allowing for prioritized traffic — which would leave smaller Internet businesses in the dust.</p><p style="margin: 1em 0px;">The good news is that here in California, we have the power to prevent this merger from happening: The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and CA Attorney General Kamala Harris have the authority to stop this merger in its tracks. <strong>Stopping the merger on the home front would be a huge blow to the larger, national agenda of these companies. But the CPUC need to hear from you.</strong></p><p><a href="http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/comcast_twc/?t=3&akid=4192.1023540.AdiERD" target="blank"><strong>Contact the CPUC Commissioners and tell them you don’t want corporate giant Comcast to have a monopoly over your Internet and cable.</strong></a></p><p style="margin: 1em 0px;"><strong>Comcast has a long checkered history of doing whatever it takes to control all of this country’s media and communications infrastructure.</strong> They continue to challenge net neutrality rules and actively lobby local governments to cut public, educational and government access television. Should the merger be approved, Comcast would have unchecked gatekeeper power over our commercial, social and civic lives.</p><p><strong><a href="http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/comcast_twc/?t=4&akid=4192.1023540.AdiERD" target="blank">They’re doing everything they can to make sure your voice is silenced. Don’t let them win.
