I was referred to you by Margaret Holub--I reached out to her to see if she knew of any local solidarity responses in the works to the grand jury decision rendered today in Ferguson. She said that you were the person to ask!

If there isn't anything specifically being planned already, I'd like to organize a brief candlelight vigil/public moment of silence Tuesday evening (or as a second-best option, Wednesday around lunchtime). I know the short notice and impending holiday are somewhat problematic for scheduling, but I think it would be valuable to come together and share our frustration and grief while the energy is there nationally (and then perhaps to come together again in the next week or two to have a more complex conversation about race and police brutality locally, if there's interest--I definitely want to make sure that existing work in the community is signal-boosted and amplified). For the purposes of a vigil, Margaret said that in front of the Fort Bragg town hall is a common gathering space--do you happen to know if that requires a permit?

Thanks so much for your time and attention--especially as a newcomer, I'd be very grateful for any input or thoughts you're able to give! I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Allie
