Present: Sheila Dawn, Dan Baker, Bob Lane, Ann Rennacker
Agnes and Jessie are doing a presentation to a Democrat group about the Public Banking Charter, Richard busy with Music Festival.
- 4th of July Parade was composed of grassroots groups, Ann shared a picture Linda took of OPC and Community Rights Network. Sheila had some printing expenses of $20, and as she sold a Occupy shirt at the parade for $20 we allowed her to reimburse herself. There is another $10 for material Sheila will ask Treasurer to reimburse.
- There is a video of the Parade on the website www.Mendocinotv.com. We are about 14 minutes into this video.
- Some of us (Richard, Bob, Ann, Agnes, Sheila) took part in the Pickadilly sale at Mendocino's Recreation Center last week and we sold $97 worth of donated items, hats, T-shirts and Occucards. Along with the proceeds of passing the hat at this meeting, we have $105.40 to add to the O/M Credit Union account which is managed by Jessie.
- Discussion of the P&J offer to donate monies to us contingent upon our agreement to recruit young members, have a plan to sustain our group, etc. We must have this discussion when more members are present and we find out what P&J wants us to do to qualify. We want to look for a donated space, and the Mendocino MEC near Corners of the Mouth in Mendocino was one suggestion. Another was the Regenerative Design Center.
- Next event is Paul Bunyan Weekend - do we want to be in the Parade? If so we need a lot of participants and need to register.
- We had a question about the Banking payments that were made by the big banks regarding how much of the fine money was returned to the homeowners who got fraudulently foreclosed? The profits of the Banks were barely touched and they gave themselves bonuses, and will get to write off 40% of the fines on their taxes. Meanwhile lives were shattered and no Bankers went to jail. Sheila will speak to the Chase Bank employee in a suit who seems sympathetic to our protests.
- Jim Hightower had a good article about the Bank swindle, which Ann forwarded to the O/M lists, and we will try to get him to come speak here. Sheila will find out if the OceanView Motel will comp a room and we can offer a small speaker fee if we can get enough people to commit to go in with us and find a place to stage it (Ft Bragg Town Hall or Crown Hall??).
- Are there recent pictures posted on our website? We want a current update to show our presence. Dan has updated the Facebook page.
- There will be a Public Bank Institute meeting, and Ellen Rosser came back on board, John McCowan says he wants more changes to get the proposal back on track to be ready for the Ballot. Probably won't happen by the deadline for the November Ballot this year. We now have revised this 14 times! Barry Vogel is looking at it for a small fee. After attending some BOS meetings on the Budget and finding that the Grand Jury brought charges against the County for mismanagement of the Library funds, the Mental Health outsourcing to a former employee and a private contractor he now works for, the hiring of Meredith Ford after her retirement for $440 per day to train her assistant to take over, and other questionable practices, we wonder if the Supervisors should be in charge of the Public Bank!
- Irene asked for permission to make some Rally posters about immigration issues, in Spanish and English. We agreed this is a Occupy issue!
Meeting adjourned at 3:45 pm.
