Dear Agnes,<br><br>
Students graduating from college have a lot to think about. Striking out on their own for the first time and finding a job and career path is a daunting experience to say the least.<br><br>
But for those struggling under the weight of college loans, it’s even tougher. The average student borrower owes around $29,400. <strong>And total student loan debt has tripled in the last decade to more than $1 trillion.</strong><br><br>
Meanwhile, high interest rates make paying down those debts in a reasonable time frame next to impossible.<br><br><a href="http://action.tomudall.com/page/m/4352c113/1636a017/6fd49b74/5ade3b5d/444168334/VEsE/" title="http://action.tomudall.com/e140606"><u><strong>That’s why I’m joining with my colleague, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and other Senate Democrats to reform our student loan system and give borrowers the option to refinance their loans at a lower rate. Will you sign our petition?</strong></u></a><br><br>
Student loan debt doesn’t just affect borrowers and their families. It has a ripple effect across our entire economy. The extra money spent paying down exorbitant interest could be also spent on a car, on a mortgage, or in their communities.<br><br>
Giving students the option to refinance their loans, just like a homeowner or a business is able to, will help students get ahead and provide a much needed boost to our economy.<br><br><a href="http://action.tomudall.com/page/m/4352c113/1636a017/6fd49b74/5ade3b5d/444168334/VEsF/" title="http://action.tomudall.com/e140606"><u><strong>I hope you’ll join me and my colleagues in support of student loan reform.</strong></u></a><br><br>
