Before this latest (and hopefully, not last) development I had planned to do my next Corporations & Democracy show on KZYX (July 23, 1 pm) on the MCTV issue. When I heard Elizabeth's sad news today I thought there was no point anymore but on thinking further about it and consulting with Elizabeth, I've decided it's too important to just let it fade away. So, I am planning to devote the show to this issue. Elizabeth will be a guest and will explain how all of this happened. I also want to explore how we can resurrect community TV on the Coast. Elizabeth has already said there is no point in raising money, as Footlighters and their lawyer will get any money that is raised by MCTV. So, what if there is someone, a group, or other nonprofit interested in pursuing this? Couldn't money be raised by a new nonprofit not affiliated with MCTV? Is there anyone with the energy and time to take this on? What will be done with MCTV's equipment? I don't know the answers, nor do I have the time to lead this effort but I want to explore the options on my show. Any ideas? Any potential guests to join us on the show, who are interested in working to bring back community TV? Send me your ideas…I only have 1 week to come up with a plan for the show. My goals are first, to inform the community about the issues, and second, to explore options for a viable community TV station on the coast. Send me your ideas, either on or off list (but on the Discussion list, not the Announce).
        Toni Rizzo, toni@mcn.org, 964-8689
Co-host, Corporations & Democracy, KZYX FM
