that last question, even though I'm not Paul and don't know his
thinking. My reasoning is as follows:<br>

1. People who financially support public radio generally meet the
following criteria: They listen regularly, they appreciate what
they hear, they believe the station is important to them, they
understand their contributions are important, and they have the
financial means. <br>
2. Most of our members maintain their support year after year. <br>
3. This election was vigorously contested and received more
attention than most. Members received the mailed ballots with
written arguments, had the opportunity to listen in to a
well-publicized candidate forum, and were reminded incessantly
on-air to return the ballot. In addition, there were numerous
letters in local publications and e-mail lists, including both the
Announce and Discussion lists, drawing attention to this election.<br>
4. Those who felt strongly about a need for change are the most
likely to have voted. (Put another way, those with strong
feelings are disproportionately represented in voting. This is
generally the case in all elections.)<br>

Taking all those points into account, I conclude that the
non-voters must have been largely comprised of people who like the
station and do not feel a strong desire for change. <br>
<br>
It would seem difficult to argue otherwise - that the 2/3 who
withheld their votes did so despite a desire for change. That
would make no sense to me; even though humans are illogical.<br>
<br>
