Dan signed immediately, and John said he would sign when we got closer to our goal of 5% of members. </div><div><br></div><div>But John is a hero to the members of our radio station. He actually came in the last meeting. This is what he said to the board:</div><div><br></div><div>JOHN McCOWEN: Don't shy away from controversy. Address it directly in an Open Lines format. Stop ostracizing your critics. Let more people in. Follow the board procedures and publish them on the website.</div><div><br></div><div>So we know where John McCowen stands.</div><div><br></div><div>THE PETITION. I went out for the first time yesterday to get signatures, I decided to start at a hotbed of progressives, the Ukiah Farmers Market. It turned out great. I had a lot of interesting conversations, two hours worth. Everyone I talked to signed. The petition has a checkbox for those who are listeners or ex-members as well as members. I got 30 signatures, and of those 8 are members. </div><div><br></div><div>The experience shows there is plenty of support in Ukiah for the board to communicate with the members. I could have gotten many more signatures, and I'm sure we will eventually get the 120 member signatures we need to put the bylaws change on the ballot.</div><div><br></div><div>In case you haven't seen it, below is the petition, and I have a lovely cartoon of McCowen, Jimmy Humble, Doug McKenty, David Steffen, Sheila and others speaking before the the board at the October 2014 meeting.
