to see the video of the event in Kauai... it must have
been quite an experience. I am also going to use
excerpts from the article by Maude Barlow in my ongoing
efforts to raise awareness on the Rights of Nature.<br>
<br>
</font>Being a resident of Mendocino County, I try to stay
informed on the drought, and the political forces
responsible for exacerbating the already dire conditions
in California. Though I feel I am more or less well-versed
on the subject, I found Maude Barlow's article
enlightening. </font></font></font>Additionally, there is
no more accurate summation of the water crisis in California,
that I am aware of, than in Maude Barlow's article where she
writes:<br>

</b><b> </b><b><a href="http://www.movementrights.org/wp/?p=87"><i>"California
is the canary in the coal mine</i>," and that there are "<i>powerful
interests standing </i><i>i</i><i>n the way of critically
needed policy change...and it will take courageous
officials and citizens to" </i>change the tides. </a></b><br>
</font></font><font face="Calibri"><font face="Calibri"><br>
It seems that the perilous conditions in California can be
witnessed anywhere within the state, including Mendocino County.
And it is for this reason that I think we need another Community
Rights/Rights of Nature event to take place. I don't know that
it needs to be an event that evolves around a local tribunal. I
just feel that we</font><font face="Calibri"><font
face="Calibri">, particularly those who live in and around the
city of Fort Bragg (which I am much more comfortable referring
to as <i>Noyo Village,</i>) are in dire need of support in
asserting our inalienable rights, which include our
obligations to protect the Rights of Nature. <br>
<br>
</font></font>I have been involved with the Mendocino County
Community Rights Network (MCCRN) since Paul Cienfuegos made his
first presentation at the Grange in Willits. However, the tireless
work taking place within the MCCRN is largely behind the scenes -
primarily consisting of meetings focused on legislative change.
Personally, I feel that I am better suited to contribute by
engaging in on-the-ground activities, and I </font><font

months since the Community Rights Roadshow campaign for Measure S
swept through our county, leaving an increased membership of
motivated activists in its wake. I understand that Mendocino
County became the first county in California and the second in the
nation to pass such a powerful local ordinance into law. In the
spirit of Measure S and the </font><font face="Calibri">groundwork
