Thank you so much for sharing this update. In addition to having
no back-up monetary systems in place here on the coast, I am also
concerned about the lack of other systems that are necessary for
building sustainable and resilient communities. To name just two
specific to Fort Bragg:<br>
<br>
<b>Food Security</b> - the amount of food produced from local
community gardens in Fort Bragg would not sustain area residents
for more than a few days if the trucks that deliver the stuff
known as food were to stop coming over the hill today. While food
(much of which provides no guarantee of safety) that has traveled
at least 1500 miles before reaching our grocery stores is still
being delivered today, we now know that this will not be the case
in the near future.<br>
<br>
<b>Resilience & Public Safety</b> - the city of Fort Bragg has
no <u>practical</u> emergency preparedness plan and the last
Public Safety Committee meeting held, that actually convened and
was not cancelled, I believe was 8 months ago (March 2014.) The
city's current Emergency Preparedness Plan does not address any of
the prolonged conditions that are to be expected during periods of
environmental, energy and economic crises, such as persistent food
and water shortages, hazardous levels of exposure to toxic
substances, unsafe air quality, rising sea levels, long-term
emergency shelter, wide-spread illness, etc.<br>

I am hoping to gather some folks together who are willing to be
the initial lead person for a particular category within the
overall transitioning of our Mendocino Coast Communities. I am
working on developing a new web presence for Mendocino Coast
Transition Towns that will serve as a central communication hub of
sorts where everyone can post updates, join a group, initiate
action, offer suggestions, find events or check-in to see what
wonderful new things are happening. I am hoping that this hub will
also promote a sense of empowerment and hope as well as
accountability in all of us.<br>

share this link as a suggestion for one way we can address

Today's article by Paul Craig Roberts, former US Treasury official, tells
us that yesterday, Friday 11/7/14, the US Mint announced the suspension of
silver eagle coin sales, and the Royal Canadian Mint is now rationing the
supply of silver maple leafs both because they don't have and can't get
enough silver to meet the exploding demand... even though silver/gold
prices have been manipulated to recent lows.
I predict we'll see the suspension of gold eagle coin sales in the
relatively near future for the same reason, and eventually the closing of
the COMEX market for the same reason... total corrupt manipulation by the
Fed and their agent banks designed to stave off the effects of trillions
of counterfeit currency the Fed has generated the past few years, which in
the end, will ruin the currency we use.
So I believe now is the time to trade our fiat FRNs (federal reserve notes
aka US dollars) for real assets - stuff that can be bartered with and/or
feed and warm us in the future. I believe this is the beginning of the
end of the currency we are used to. Rumors seem to indicate the actual
currency collapse will be next sept-oct 2015, but who knows? will we
experience hyperinflation or deflation between now and then? nobody
knows.
However, being forwarned can help us to be better forearmed. Very best to
