To Karina, Michael Dean, Kelly and Linda,

We didn't elect any
of the point people; they were all volunteers. Michael Dean
volunteered to manage the money and be the point person.

I have been treasurer of several organizations and am very familiar with
the FPPC forms. I collaborated with Michael who got the ball
rolling. But he ran into a couple of obstacles, and needed a
co-treasurer. I am too involved in my campaign for office to take
that responsibility, but I am willing to consult.

CRN-MC
needs to open a bank account in order to file the initial form 410.
Once the organization receives $1000, it becomes "qualified" and
must file the form 410. All "in-kind" donations are
included to become "qualified." Once the 410 is filed, the
FPPC will issue us a number.

That number will be used on
all subsequent forms filed with the FPPC. The form 460 is filed
quarterly, January 31, April 30, July 31, October 31.

I
advise that it is foolish to avoid filing forms with the FPPC. We
will need more than $1000 to promote and run our ordinance. Don't
play games with the law.

I can provide all the forms in
fillable PDF's and advise on how to do it. Michael told me that
Karina is taking over the Treasurer job and she has everything in
hand. From all the questions that I just read in the list-serve,
Karina doesn't have everything in hand. Please phone me to
consult on the details of what forms to file when, and exactly what is to
be claimed and how. 707-467-3934.

In my opinion,
the role of treasurer should be held by someone who knows how to keep
books. Who knows how to use Quicken or Quickbooks? That's who
should be treasurer. Some treasurers Xerox every check before
depositing, but I record the name and address of every donor in the
electronic register. That way I can easily print out a report in PDF
of all donors so we can send them all thank you notes. Only donors
that give a minimum of $100 per YEAR need to be listed separately.
If someone pledges $50/mo, they will have to be listed in the details of
460.

Michael told me yesterday that our treasury had
about $175 in it. I wasn't listening carefully, so I didn't her the
exact amount. I was mainly seeking a ballpark estimate.

I gave the reference from our $1000 donor to Doug McKenty to call
and make the arrangements since the donor wanted to earmark it for lawn
signs, or advertizing in general, and Doug is the point person on that
Team. Whether the donor purchases the lawn signs directly and
gives them to us, or whether he gives us the $$ and we purchase them
ourselves, we still must claim both cash and in-kind donations on the form
460.

In Peace, Robin
